At the heart of the Creative Writing Practices option, is the notion
that you can develop your creative and critical skills through a flexible and progressive learning schedule.
Through a series of creative writing workshops you’ll gain an understanding of creative writing as art. Drawing on a range of literature, film and arts practices you will begin to develop a strong sense of critical awareness. You’ll begin to understand what your writing is doing, and why and you will be actively encouraged and we want you to question, analyse and deconstruct your own work and the work of others.
In workshops and through independent study, you will explore a range of modes and forms of writing that address, voice, world, image and story
The focus in this option is on short pieces of writing in a range of forms and genres, enabling you to learn clarity of expression while practising re-drafting and editing. Exercises will be used to stimulate writing. You will give one another feedback and evaluate the responses your work receives; you will also be required to evaluate and respond to your tutor's response to your writing practice.
You will be given a degree of freedom to focus on the areas of literature, creative writing and media that bring out the best in you, or relates to your area of practice.
Above all we want you to feel inspired and become inspiring.
